The Reflection of marriage and divorce news in the Iranian press (Case Study: Keyhan, shargh, Iran, Hamshahri)

One of the issues that has struck the minds of researchers in recent years is the reducing marriage and increasing divorce in Iran. Considering the importance of the media, including the press, in covering the problems of society, this study seeks to measure how to coverage the news of marriage and divorce in the Iranian press in 95 (Keyhan, shargh, Iran and Hamshahri). This research has been done with quantitative content analysis method and total population sampling.
The results indicate that From a total of 103 articles published in 1395 about marriage, the Hamshahri with 37.9% is the most widely published, and the shargh has the lowest content. Of all 21 articles on divorce, the Hamshahri and shargh, equal to 28.6, have most widely published articles.There is a significant relationship between the variables of coverage level and news elements related to marriage with newspapers in 99% confidence. There is no significant relationship between the level of coverage, news elements and news values of the divorce Contents with the newspapers with more than 5 percent error. There is no relationship between news values emphasized for choosing articles related to the marriage with newspapers. According to Agenda setting theory the editors of the newspapers have tried to highlight the marriage with a positive view rather than divorce. But this issue was not important and in a year only 124 news items were allocated to them which shows that other issues were a priority for newspaper editors
