The Purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between critical thinking and religious commitment with the effectiveness of media literacy among the students of Last year of high school in District 4 of Tehran.
Participants in this study included 203 students who were randomly selected. Research data were collected using questionnaires: religion commitment, critical thinking and media literacy and were statistically analyzed through correlation method. The overall results of the study showed that there is a direct and significant relationship between religious commitment and critical thinking with media literacy. Findings showed that there is a stronger relationship between critical thinking and media literacy than the relationship between religious commitment and media literacy. The findings also showed that there is a positive but very small relationship between perfection(maturity) as one of the components of critical thinking and media literacy. Also, the relationship between the components of religious commitment and media literacy was close to each other and moderate, but the relationship between both components with the subscale of awareness of "the hidden goals of media literacy" was very small. Thus, paving the suitable way for strengthening religious commitment and teaching critical thinking skills can enhance the effectiveness of media literacy.
