Press Quality Parameters, from the Viewpoint of Communications Professors and Journalists

Abstract
 
This article attempts to examine the quality parameters of the press, from the viewpoint of communications professors and professional journalists in Iran. Achieving these parameters, in addition to contribute in knowledge and enriching the literature of this scope, help the relevant organizations and institutions to improve policymaking and mechanisms of the relationship with press on the basis of specific criteria and parameters. In this research, using normative theories of media, criteria, professional and ethics principles of journalism, as well as review of theoretical literature of styles of journalism and concepts of this scope, items of the research were obtained and then by using Q and factor analysis methods, the opinions of two groups of journalists and communication professors were assessed and compared.
Due to the large scope of ​​the press, from various aspects, quality of the press could be evaluated. In this research parameters of the quality of the press examined in five aspects: legal laws and regulations, ownership and management of the press, journalism techniques and principles, relationship between the press and the government and the requirements of practicing journalism. Finally with assessing load factor, it was found that respondents were agree over 42 items from 52 items that it shows high agreement between journalists and communications professors on the items of the research.
