The concept of public trust in the media is the most fundamental factor in the effective and desirable functioning of the media. The present study seeks to identify the audience's view of the component of broadcasting trust and what are the reasons for the audience to trust or distrust the IRIB news and news policies? Therefore, by using a qualitative method and by individual and group interviews with 32 Tehran audiences, an attempt was made to identify the reasons for their distrust and distrust of the news and news policies of the Radio and Television by thematically analyzing their responses. The research findings show that the most important reasons for audience distrust are restrictive frameworks, generalized distrust, unprofessionalism, the performance of other media and the audience's memory of IRIB. Trust in IRIB as a trust in the system, trust in the general policies of IRIB, despite the relative trust in its news and the acceptance of some censorship as the nature of media work, are important reasons for the audience to trust IRIB news
