The Construction of Contemporary Religious Art at specialized Journals on Religious art

The artistic Journals in post revolution Iran undertook a part of the specialized thought stream on art. contemporary religious art was main topic in some of journals intending to construct secondary concepts of religious art. By considering the importance of these journals function from the press and artistic view, this paper has studied three journals: Honare Dini, Ravaqe Honar and Andishe, & Asre Adine to respond this question: How these journals constructed the image of contemporary religious art. By considering the concepts of religious art in the viewpoints of traditionalists and Islamic scholars and jurisprudents, the paper evaluates the relation of constructed themes with those concepts. At reviewing the literature from communication view, the paper studies the relation of thought stream at journals on the function of contemporary religious art based on hypodermic needle model and Active Audience theory. The thematic analysis method was applied to analyze the mentioned journals. The results showed that these journals constructed a concept of contemporary religious art which was close to the viewpoints of clerics institution on religion while the thought stream inclined to traditional and philosophic viewpoints on religious art were not developed. In this thought paradigm, the art viewed in a functional viewpoint and the art was reduced mainly to cinema as a means and media to foster and propagate the religion. The cinema communication to its audiences was considered based on hypodermic needle model and Active Audience theory has been ignored.
